[Voice] Waking Up from the Experiment

[A very groggy Hiro wakes up with absolutely no memory of what had happened over the past several days. He has no idea that he spent the past several days as an alternate universe version of himself, though he did find one clue that something strange happened...]

Ugh... hey, everybody. It's Hiro. Something weird must have happened during the experiment we all went through, because I went to sleep on one day, and now I'm waking up several days later. Does anyone know what I did over the past few days? I don't remember anything...

Well, I did find something. Somehow, some woman got her hands on my journal, and she recorded a voice entry asking about Yamato, who's someone from my world. Can anyone explain that?

.. You don't remember anything from those days?

[ Ange does, after all, it's why she's a little curious. That, and she does feel like she owes him a little for helping her during said experiment at one point. ]

No. Nothing. Well, I do remember a few days where I could use my healing spells on my own, without my cell phone, but then... I went to bed on... um... well, whatever it was, it was a few days ago, and I woke up today. The only clue I have is that woman's recording on my journal and I don't know what to make of it.

[ voice ]

That's so weird, definitely weird. [ she hums to herself for a moment. ] Well, I don't think anyone would have used your journal but you. Why would they, after all?

[ voice ]

I don't know why... but this person asked for someone else from my homeworld. It didn't sound like any of the girls I know, though... So what kind of woman used my journal while I was out? It doesn't seem like they brought in someone else from home, unless there's something I don't know about. Wait, that person would have their own journal, not mine... so something must have happened to me while I was out... [A gasp of realization!] I must have been turned into a woman! But then why don't I remember being a woman?

[ voice ]

[ at least his line of reasoning is easy enough to follow. ]

I'm not sure about the not remembering part, but the turning into a woman part is pretty normal. There was an experiment going on, and they tend to love to swap people's gender from male to female or the other way around.

[ voice ]

Oh, gee... great, more things to look forward to. [A pause.] Actually... now I have another idea of what might have happened. I wonder if I was somehow... replaced? Like, this woman took my place in Luceti for a while, while I was... elsewhere or something. Somehow, this woman replaced me and so she got my journal. Something like that.

[ voice ]

[repudiate]

Replaced?

[ .. a pause, but then she frowns a little to herself. ]

I've never heard of something like that happening before. You'd remember it if you were simply replaced, right?

[ voice ]

Who knows? With the way this place is, I bet I could be made to forget anything in a snap. My roommate forgot pretty much everything about me and the rest of Luceti during part of his experiment... oh, here's another idea. Maybe I turned into someone else for a part of the experiment? Like, some different version of me who still knew who Yamato was...

[ voice ]

I guess I have to agree that a lot of things can happen in this case. I'm just saying it's usually pretty unlikely for people to forget things after an experiment is already done and over with.

.. I guess any theory you give could be valid though.

[ voice ]

Yeah... the more I think about it, the more turning into someone else or being replaced makes sense. Think about it... who could be different than me, but still me, and thus capable of getting my journal, other than some alternate-dimension version of me? Okay, that was worded funny, but you get what I mean, right? Did you see the alternate me around at all?

[ voice ]

Yeah, I sort of get what you're saying. It's plenty weird, but weird stuff is 'normal' in this place.

And.. I don't think I did. I was sort of.. preoccupied during most of the experiment, as you partially know.

[ voice ]

Hmm... that's troubling. I wonder if anyone did see the other me while I was out. It seems you got back in your body after a while, so that's good!

[ voice ]

Yeah. Thankfully we all go back to normal after a while or there would just be constant chaos.. it's easier if it's just temporarily then, no matter how annoying it might be either way.
